Sources: Pacific star Kunle Dada-Luke set to leave Vancouver Island

After four seasons with the Tridents, including a CPL playoff championship in 2021, star right-back Kunle Dada-Luke is set to leave Pacific FC, sources told The Wanderers Notebook on Sunday.

Dada-Luke, 24, has been a core piece of first Pa-Madou Kah and then James Merriman’s Pacific squads, totaling 117 appearances since 2021. Raised in Mississauga, Ont., but carrying both Canadian and Nigerian passports, the lightning quick full-back impressed with his consistency and work ethic and eventually established himself as a CPL stalwart.

But, with his contract expiring this year, sources said Dada-Luke has decided not to renew with Pacific, instead seeking out other opportunities. Several clubs across North America, including both USL and CPL sides, have reached to inquire about his services, sources explained.

With Pacific’s season having only ended last week, the 24-year old has yet to decide his next steps but he is the latest in a string of star players to leave Vancouver Island. Last year, Manny Aparicio and Amer Didic both walked on frees to sign with Atlético Ottawa. However, there’s little doubt Dada-Luke’s services will be much in demand given his age and upside.

Previously to his tenure at Pacific, Dada-Luke spent time at Toronto FC II as a youth player and later signed with Atlético Ottawa in 2020, although he did not make any appearances with them during the Island Games.
