Sources: Toronto FC's Luke Singh training with Atlético Ottawa, loan deal close

Toronto FC defender Luke Singh is nearing a return to the CPL and is currently at Atlético Ottawa's training camp in Mexico, sources told the The Wanderers Notebook over the weekend.

Although this publication was able to confirm the defender's loan isn't finalized, sources said the 23-year old took part in the club's pre-season friendly against the University of Carleton last week and traveled with the rest of Atlético Ottawa's players to Mexico. It is expected that the loan will be finalized in near future, barring an injury.

Singh has previously played two seasons in the CPL on loan. The first came in 2022 with FC Edmonton, where the Brampton-born defender played 24 matches across all competitions. Last year, Singh was a mainstay for Atlético Ottawa's backline and logged 2,344 minutes across 27 appearances. He also recorded one goal.

Toronto FC announced in 2021 that they had signed Singh as a Home Grown Player through 2025; he made his professional debut for the MLS club on April 7, 2021.

Toronto FC was contacted for comment but was unable to reply in time for publication; Atlético Ottawa declined to comment as they do not speak on transfer speculation.
